Karli Alderson, MD

Medical weight management has been my passion since I learned of its existence during my medical training in Kansas City. Through my career as a family physician in Nashville, TN and Lebo, KS, I have treated the effects excess weight has had on my patients’ health. Becoming a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine in 2020, I finally learned in detail about treating weight issues thoroughly with the hope of preventing disease and improving health.

Since 2019, I have worked exclusively in weight management. I pride myself on being thorough, and appreciating each patient’s own circumstances when it comes to developing a treatment plan.

My decision to create a weight management clinic focusing on adolescents and families started because I saw patients struggle to overcome unhealthy habits, many of which they created as children. By educating, treating, and coaching those who have yet to be swayed by the weight loss industry, I aim to create maverick thinkers, who understand they are unique and are confident in their own healthy lifestyle.

Family is the most important part of my life. I am married with teenage twin daughters and it is my top priority to create a safe space for them. As a parent, I know it's not easy (I was better at it before I had kids 😉), but I'm here to help families build healthier lives while embracing imperfection.

Outside of medicine, traveling and exploring national parks is my favorite escape. Nothing compares to standing beside a mountain or ocean and feeling respect and wonder for the world around me. I'm a huge fan of Broadway musicals and would drop everything for the theater if I had the talent. Tennis is another passion, and I've had the opportunity to participate in national tournaments with my father and friends. Finally, I love movies and can often be found enjoying a film screening by myself on a Tuesday afternoon.

On a professional level, I'm fascinated by how our minds can lead us to make unhealthy choices, thanks to patterns of thinking that developed millions of years ago to protect us but are no longer necessary in today’s world. And, I'm dedicated to helping children become more resilient in today's society where survival as a teenager is more challenging than ever.
